Implementing agency: Bangladesh Railway under Ministry of Railways. Project period: 1 January 2016 to 30 June 2024 (revised). Total cost: BDT 3,924,679.98 lakh (approx. USD 3.7 billion); 85% financed by China Exim Bank, 15% GoB. Route: ~169 km in four sections, Dhaka to Jashore via Padma Bridge. Entire route opened to traffic 24 December 2024. Contractor: CREC (China Railway Engineering Corporation). Classified as a Fast Track Project of the Government of Bangladesh.
