National Human Rights Commission
Statutory Body
An autonomous public body established to advocate for and protect human rights in Bangladesh. Investigates human rights violations, promotes human rights education, and advises the government on human rights matters. Under a 2025 ordinance, granted expanded powers including investigation, prosecution, legal representation of complainants, and authority to arrest and investigate suspects independently regardless of rank or political position.
