Provenance & notes

Constituency 298 covers the entire Khagrachhari Hill District (CHT), all 9 upazilas. Wadud Bhuiyan is a Bengali Muslim from a landed Bhuiyan family of Ramgarh; he is NOT an indigenous CHT candidate -- the runner-up Dharma Jyoti Chakma (Chakma indigenous, Independent) came second with 68,315 votes. Raw vote counts confirmed by Daily Country Today BD and The Daily Star; total valid votes not published by EC at time of verification, so vote_share_percent, runner_up_vote_share, and margin_percent are null. Registered voters in constituency: 554,144 (pre-election figure, BSS and Dhaka Tribune). Bhuiyan was sentenced to 20 years by the Chittagong Divisional Judge's Court in an ACC graft case (assets worth Tk 6.36 crore, caretaker govt 2007); acquitted by the High Court on 10 August 2025 before the election -- no ongoing criminal cases. Prior government role: Chairman, Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board 2002-2006 (BNP govt era). This is his 3rd term as MP from this constituency (also 6th and 8th parliaments). Committee memberships not yet published by parliament.gov.bd for 13th parliament at time of verification.
