Provenance & notes

The Ministry of Education operates through two statutory divisions: Secondary and Higher Education Division (SHED) and Technical and Madrasa Education Division (TMED). Minister Milon holds charge of both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education simultaneously. The combined FY2025-26 budget figure (602,420,000,000 BDT) covers both SHED (Tk 47,564 crore) and TMED (Tk 12,678 crore) under MoEdu's mandate only; Primary and Mass Education (Tk 35,403 crore) is a separate ministry. VC appointments in 2026 have been made without election-panel procedures mandated by individual university orders, a pattern consistent across successive governments but drawing renewed criticism under the BNP administration. Secretary of SHED as of April-May 2026: Abdul Khaleque (confirmed active at May 10-12 workshop).
