Youngest science and technology university in the Sylhet division, established in the haor belt of Sunamganj. Parliament passed the founding bill on 18 November 2020 (voice vote, moved by Education Minister Dipu Moni). UGC approved academic activities August 2023; first classes began in the 2023-24 session at a temporary campus in Shantiganj upazila (Abdul Majid College building rented premises). Bangla Wikipedia cites formal teaching start as 3 November 2024.
