Youngest science and technology university in the Sylhet division, established in the haor belt of Sunamganj. Parliament passed the founding bill on 18 November 2020 (voice vote, moved by Education Minister Dipu Moni). UGC approved academic activities August 2023; first classes began in the 2023-24 session at a temporary campus in Shantiganj upazila (Abdul Majid College building rented premises). Bangla Wikipedia cites formal teaching start as 3 November 2024. Four departments currently operational: Computer Science and Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. student_count of 320 is from Bangla Wikipedia (no UGC primary-source figure available); the earlier figure of 160 from Prothom Alo (2023-24 session start) is superseded. faculty_count of 17 is from Wikipedia and corroborated by the October 2025 Sylheterdak reception article. annual_budget_bdt set null: no primary-source figure found.
